I am still trying to confirm Donaldson also supplies Wix with theirs. Donaldson manufacturers the filters for AC/Delco, so save yourself a few bucks and order the Donaldson. The only difference I can see between the 2 is the label. I have used the Wix and the Donaldson, depending on who has them the cheapest as we get them by the case. It is a special order item that takes about 2 weeks to ship. Shipping is $7.95 up to 99.99 order value. I get mine at Ryder Fleet Products for $22.36 each. I learned my lesson, no more aftermarket parts. I have since changed the filter again, using an OEM (A/C Delco) filter, with no further issues. This time I installed an OEM filter and had the computer reset for the third time. Just before we got home it occured again. After another hundred miles or so, the same issue reoccured, again with the same results from a different GM dealer. They reset the computer and I went on my merry way. I informed they it was a WIX and they didn't think that would have caused the problem. The next thing they wanted to know was if it was a K & N Filter, making reference to oiling issues. They asked what, if any thing, I had done to the truck, and I reported the new air filter.
I stopped at a GM dealer, they put it on the computer and verified what On Star told me. I checked with On Star and they said the problem was air intake related. The OEM filter is more than sufficient.Ībout 18 months ago, before leaving on a camping trip, I changed the air filer on my 2007 Duramax with a new WIX, because the local GM dealer didn't have an OEM filter in stock.Ībout 200 miles into our trip, the check engine light came on and the truck started running rough. Bottom line is the K&N is about the worst air filter on the market for stopping dirt. knock yourself out but be ready for problems.įrom hanging around a bunch of internet forums I'd say somewhere around 90% of the people with problems have aftermarket parts. I put it in and no CEL and it is shifting ok. Now I still have a CEL but it is shifting ok. I went back to NAPA and got my old MAF and put it back in. We found that the MAF and the IAT are enclosed in the same part. The shop guy's and myself were puzzled as to why an IAT would effect the shifting. I went back and had the codes checked again and it was showing that Intake Air Temp #1 (IAT) was bad. I got a new one from NAPA (CEL went out.) After driving for about 5 mins the light came back on and the shift pattern was all screwed up. I had the check engine light (CEL) come on and the problem was the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF.)
